I began my journey to Lakadong from Shillong, heading toward Meghalaya’s peaceful Jaintia Hills. This region is famous for its Lakadong turmeric, known for its deep golden color and strong curcumin. As the road curved through green pine trees, the air felt clean and fresh nature at its best.
A Warm Welcome in Mulieh Village
After a few hours, I reached Mulieh village. I stayed with Rida, a kind host who greeted me with a warm cup of Lakadong turmeric tea. It tasted rich, earthy, and different from anything I had tried before. While we talked, she smiled and said, “This is Lakadong our pride and our living.”
Walking with the Women Farmers

At that moment, I realized that Lakadong turmeric is more than a spice. It tells a story of the land, the people, and their strength. Every pinch carries love, soil, and tradition.
